Phonathon Students

When alumni share their collegiate experiences with a Phonathon student, they tell priceless stories, spread invaluable wisdom and teach the student the importance of investing in Mercer. The Phonathon students, for six consecutive years, seem to have heard and comprehend this lesson: they have had 100 percent participation in giving back to Mercer since fiscal year 2003-2004.

Last fiscal year, student callers reached nearly 11,000 alumni and more than 2,800 alumni made the decision to pledge because of a call from a Phonathon student. Through calls for the Parents Fund, the student callers generated more than 440 parent donors this fiscal year.

Mercer hires approximately 30 Phonathon students who call from mid-September through early March. The goal of each attempted call is to make a connection with alumni, so please stay on the line! Make a gift online. Go>

Phonathon Facts

• During the 2008-2009 fiscal year, the alumni pool consisted of more than 50,000 people and student callers attempted 90 percent of the list.

• Students spoke with almost 11,000 alumni during the 2008-2009 fiscal year.

• Including Parents Fund donors, Phonathon generates, on average, one-third of the donor count for the University, with approximately 3,000 donors per year.
